In the 1950s, a workroom and mother of eleven children helped a farmer’s union, which eventually became the platform for feminism and gender equality. Dolores Huerta founded the 1950’s gender covenants at the beginning of the country’s first farmers’ labor union with co-organizer Cesar Chavez. What begins as a battle for racial and labor legislation is soon visible to gender equality within the same union, which eventually left her.
